The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq today flagged off the distribution of Tablets and engagement letters to 128 trained Independent Monitors in Abuja on Thursday. The flag off which took place at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre Abuja is one of the National Social Investment Programmes aimed at monitoring all the SIPs under the ministry including the Government Enterprise and Empowerment Programme GEEP, N Power, Conditional Cash Transfer CCT and the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme NHGSFP. These devices are equipped with an Application that will be used to report on monitoring activities of the trained Independent Monitors. “The Application, which we called the Social Investment Management Information System (SIMIS), is a mobile and web-based Application designed for Monitoring the National Social Investment Programme. Using this Application, the Ministry sees a real-time report of activities of the Independent Monitors on the Field. We can view reports submitted and see the NSIP performance indicators by state and detect areas of challenges. For example, under the National Home Grown School Feeding Programme, we can see where feeding has taken place and where there is no feeding happening. This will provide greater visibility to the Ministry and equip us with information to follow up with implementation happening at the state level”. Minister Umar Farouq charged the Independent Monitors to be diligent, upright and accurate in their assignment. Every independent monitor will be held accountable by the Ministry for the task given to them. Earlier, Permanent Secretary Bashir Nura Alkali said that adequate monitoring was essential to achieving the set goals and objectives of each of the NSIP programmes. “The Ministry believes that the engagement of Independent Monitors for NSIP, therefore, is one of the strategies to ensure these programmes achieve desired results. While the programmes achieve desired results. While the engagement of Independent Monitors is not new, we at the Ministry have reviewed the modalities and designed a more robust and proactive strategy to monitor the Programmes. The Independent Monitors will monitor programme beneficiaries within their locality in schools, households, and market clusters on a routine basis using a standardized reporting tool which we have made available in hard copy as well as electronically”. There was also an overview and demonstration by the Special Assistant to the President on Monitoring and Evaluation, Fatiya Askerin on how the Tablet will be used by the Independent Monitors. Out of the 5000 shortlisted Independent Monitors, 4452 were trained across the country. Their scope of work includes routine monitoring of all programmes under the National Social Investment Programme (NSIP) in their assigned LGA, provision of an evidence-based report on findings in the field, Submission of various categories of reports in accordance with the set timelines, attending all training and meetings as required by the Ministry and other duties that may be assigned by the Ministry.   4. Fund and Guaranteed Off take Stimulus Scheme chaired by the Honorable Minister of State (Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment), Ambassador Mariam Y. Katagum, wishes to announce the commencement of the Guaranteed Off take Stimulus Scheme and the MSME Grant portal opening from the 9th February, 2021. The Guaranteed Offtake Stimulus Scheme is aimed at protecting and sustaining the incomes of vulnerable Micro and Small Enterprises by guaranteeing the offtake of their products. A total of 100,000 Micro and Small Enterprises are to benefit from the scheme. The total target national number of beneficiaries is 100,000 (Lagos 3,880, Kano 3,280, Abia 3,080 while other States will each have 2,640 beneficiaries). Applicant must be ready to produce under NAFDAC and SON specifications Applicant must have a verifiable BVN and Ban account number Applicant must have at least 2 staff members. The list of products captured in the Guaranteed Off-take Stimulus Scheme track is as seen in image below: The General MSME Grant is a one off grant of N50,000 that will be given to each qualified MSME as direct cash injection into their enterprise. The total number of beneficiaries in this track is 100,000 spread across the States. All potential beneficiaries must meet the following criteria: 1. Must be a Nigerian national 2. So, we decided to create this post to share more light on funds. The National Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) and the MSME Survival Fund Scheme are funding programme established by President Buhari Administration. And as such, Mr President have advised Nigeria youths and Business owners to take advantage of this opportunities. The NYIF is a loan for Nigeria youth age 18 to 35 while the Survival fund is grant to MSME. The 75 billion Naira Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) is to serve as a sort of Youth Bank that will fund and support innovative ideas. skills. talents and enterprise of the Nigerian Youth; a loan and credit pathway dedicated to enabling access to credit and soft loans. This is the very first of its kind by any Nigerian government. The scheme is estimated to save not less than 103 million jobs across the country and specifically impact on over 35.000 individuals oer state. The Survival Fund schemes are at the core of the N23 trillion stimulus package (also known as the Nigerian Economic Sustainability Plan, NESP) being implemented by the Buhari administration to help cushion the impact of the COVID19 pandemic with a view to boosting the economy by saving existing Jobs and creating new job opportunities.
