MTN lift partial ban on Glo calls
MTN has lifted its partial ban on calls from Globacom subscribers to its network after stakeholders intervened in the matter.
This came after a breakdown in mobile communication between 46.6 million Globacom subscribers and MTN network users, which lasted more than five days. This cost both companies a huge loss in revenue.
MTN partial ban
But a reliable source within the MTN, who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “There was pressure on MTN to lift the partial disconnection because of the technicality of the business.”
Globacom subscribers that calls to MTN network on Wednesday were successful as against Tuesday when they had difficulty in reaching families and friends using MTN lines.
In December 2018, the telecom regulator granted approval to mobile network operators to disconnect other operators over rising interconnect debts and failure of the affected operators to pay.
In a notification letter sent by the NCC to the affected parties, the commission had asked MTN, Airtel and the IHS to disconnect, on a partial basis, services to Globacom, Ntel and some interconnect exchange points.
Globacom has only succeeded in paying 500M out of billions of Naira of its total interconnect indebtedness to MTN despite series of pleas, meetings and payment deadlines issued to the network operator to fulfill its financial obligations.
Interconnect rate is the price that telecommunications operators pay each other for calls terminating on their networks.

Huawei launches HarmonyOS, a Perfect Replacement for Android
The long-awaited HarmonyOS has been announced as Huawei kicked off its annual developer conference today. In China, it will be known as HongmengOS.
According to Huawei, the operating system can be used in everything from smartphones to smart speakers and internet-of-things devices like sensors. The platform supports RAM sizes ranging from kilobytes to gigabytes.
The operating system will support a range of apps, specifically noting that HTML5, Linux, and Android apps will be compatible. Meaning you’ll be able to run these specific apps on HarmonyOS in the future.
HarmonyOS is ready to run on phones, but “for the consideration of partnership and ecosystem,” Huawei won’t be using it on phones just yet. Yu did say, though, that if the company isn’t able to use Google’s Android operating system, HarmonyOS is ready to go.
HarmonyOS like Android will be open-source. That means developers can take HarmonyOS and modify it for their hardware, a feature which has formed the foundation of Android’s success.
The first product to use the new platform will be the Honor Vision TV set, which will be launched in China tomorrow (August 10).
Now Huawei has the choice to switch from Android anytime, any day with ease. The story is still developing, so we’ll keep you updated.
Is TECNO planning To Release Another Camon Just Before The End Of 2019?
he continued success of the TECNO Camon series smartphone is very impressive. Close watchers of the brand know that it has continued to enjoy year-on-year growth.
Well-known across Nigeria and Africa, TECNO has positioned itself in such a way that it is a part of the different aspects of the life of the average Nigerian. As a form of solidarity, this expresses the message that TECNO is for Nigerians. Students and young professionals love it for its great camera and smooth style. TECNO Camon 11 Pro boasts a 16MP + 5MP Dual Main Camera and a 24MP Selfie Camera. Little wonder it is one of the best-selling phones of the TECNO brand, but what MORE can we expect from the TECNO Camon series in the coming days?
A More Advanced Camera coming in September?
We got a hint that TECNO is working on a new Camon that will be released a couple of days from now. What can we look forward to if the hint is anything to go by?
It is normal for TECNO to reward its Camon customers with an exotic trip. The Camon 11 launch was rounded up with a trip to Dubai and Seychelles. The brand is teasing a trip to Europe which means we can expect the release of the new Camon any moment from now.
Will the new instalment in the TECNO Camon series feature an AI Triple camera? Or maybe something better? What will it be called? Camon 11S, 11XS or 12? Whatever it is you expect; you and I know the brand won’t disappoint. After all, we hear their new slogan is Expect More. So, what more can we expect?
Increased RAM and Memory Space.
With the increased use of videos and large apps, having more RAM and memory space has become so important! We look forward to TECNO adding more storage space to the next Camon. We can confidently say that the brand won’t release a new smartphone with anything less than 64GB RAM. So, get ready to freely download all your heavy apps! Wait. All that heavy app usage, video recording, streaming and downloading is going to consume a lot of power. That calls for…
If you were expecting me to say power, sorry to disappoint you. Don’t get me wrong-a large battery is a great idea – but it doesn’t come without its risks and costs. Not to mention the added weight. For me, fast charging is more important, so long as my phone battery is not terrible. Fortunately, according to information reaching me, the new TECNO Camon will come with a fast-charging feature.
With all the expected features I have listed, plus fast charging, the deal is sealed for me. I’m buying it. At this rate, I won’t be surprised to learn about an increase in sales growth at the end of the year. More is the only thing you can expect from Africa’s most preferred smartphone brand. Can someone please tell me when the new TECNO Camon will be released?
Face ID vs. Password vs. PIN vs. Fingerprint: Which is The Best Way to Lock Your Smartphone?
With the amount of personal data we hold on our phones, protection is critical. Android phones are encrypted by default and provide multiple strategies for locking and unlocking them. Some are more comfortable, even as others are more handy to apply.
So we are wondering which is the best secure way to unlock your device?
Pin Code: A PIN code is a simple alternative to a password. A strong PIN code can be difficult to remember, but easier to enter than a password. Android allows PINs of up to 16 digits, which equates to 10 quadrillion combinations.
Most people are more likely to choose a four-digit PIN which may be difficult to guess so long as you don’t use something obvious like 1234 or 5555.
Pattern Lock: The pattern lock requires you to draw a pattern on a grid of nine dots. You need to join between four and all nine horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. It is easy to use, simple and likely predictable.
Pattern lock is only recommended if you don’t have a fingerprint ID scanner and you dislike Pin codes.
Finger Print ID: Fingerprint sensors are now so common you even get them in many entry-level phones. It has become the preferred unlock method for many. It is fast and secure but fingers are not always position in the right spot. Some phones even support fingerprint gestures.
Password: In my opinion, a randomly generated long password is still the most secure way to lock a phone.. A strong password—or better yet, a passphrase—can be difficult if not impossible to crack, and will ensure your phone and everything on it remains safe.
lock your phone Face ID Recognition: Fast and unlocks your phone with just a glance. Not very secure in its current form.
Which unlock technology do you think is more secure to use and which do you currently use?
